Pros and materials
Advantages with Waterjet Cutting:
Examples of cuttable materials:
Cutting all sorts of metal
Practically any metal or alloy can be cut with waterjet cutting. The unheated cutting causes no heat affected structural changes of the edge zones.
Cutting glass, laminated glass, ceramics and stone
Free shapes can be cut in glass, marble and ceramic plates. There are no boundaries for creation of artistic shapes. This cutting method, without direct touch, does not scratch a glass surface and there are no mechanical edge bursts. When cutting laminated glass, the laminate film splits as clearly as the glass. Notches and holes cut in glass doors was previously made by cutting with expensive diamond tools. Today, they can be made cutting with a water beam.
Cutting laminate and plastic materials
Since the thermotechnical characteristics are unessential when cutting with a water beam, laminated materials can be cut with far less problems than methods causing heat influences. Environmental problems are also essentially reduced as no toxic gases or smokes are exhumed. The water beam keeps in shape for several millimeters. This way, we can also cut materials containing cavities, for example aluminium foam materials, with straight and precise cuts.
Pipe Cutting
A new feature in 2016 is that we are able to cut pipes in the waterjet cutting machine.
Tests have been made cutting both texts and ovals (for example used for connecting pipes) with very good results.
